Sammy’s Snowy Surprise
A Winter Adventure
Sammy the squirrel, a lively red squirrel with a bushy tail and bright eyes, lived in a cozy tree
hollow. He loved his forest home. He spent his days chasing butterflies, burying acorns, and
playing hide-and-seek with his friends. Sammy loved the sunshine most of all. He would bask in the warmth, dreaming of endless summer days.
One morning, Sammy woke up and peeked out of his tree hollow. He gasped! Everything was white!
The trees, the ground, even his favorite climbing branch were covered in a thick, fluffy blanket.
Sammy had never seen snow before. He was a little scared. “What is this cold, white stuff?” he
wondered.
Sammy scampered down the tree, his little paws sinking into the soft snow. He shivered. “It’s so cold!” he chattered. He missed the warm sunshine and the familiar green of the forest. He didn’t know what to do. He decided to go find his friend Rosie Rabbit.
Rosie Rabbit, a fluffy white rabbit with long ears and a pink nose, was hopping through the snow, looking for carrots. “Rosie!” Sammy called out.
Rosie hopped over, her nose twitching. “Sammy! What’s wrong? You look worried.”
“It’s this white stuff, Rosie!” Sammy exclaimed. “It’s everywhere, and it’s so cold! I don’t like it!” Rosie giggled. “That’s snow, Sammy! It comes in the winter. It’s fun!”
“Fun?” Sammy asked, tilting his head. “What’s fun about being cold?” Just then, Barnaby Bear, a big brown bear with a thick coat of fur and a friendly smile, lumbered over. He was wearing a funny red hat. “Did someone say fun?” Barnaby boomed.
“Barnaby!” Rosie cried. “Sammy doesn’t like the snow.” Barnaby chuckled. “Not like the snow? Why, snow is wonderful! We can build snow forts, have snowball fights, and go sledding!” Sammy’s eyes widened. Sledding? What was sledding?
Barnaby led Sammy and Rosie to the top of a small hill. He had a shiny, wooden sled. “Hop on!” Barnaby said. Sammy was nervous, but he trusted his friends. He climbed onto the sled with Rosie, and Barnaby gave them a push. Whee! They zoomed down the hill, laughing and shouting with glee.
Sammy had never felt so much joy! The cold wind rushed through his fur, but he didn’t mind. He was having too much fun! They went sledding again and again, until their cheeks were rosy and their noses were cold. Sammy even tried making a snowball, but it kept crumbling in his paws.
As the sun began to set, painting the snowy sky in shades of pink and orange, Sammy, Rosie, and Barnaby built a cozy snow fort. They huddled inside, sharing stories and laughing. Sammy realized that even though the snow was different and cold, it could also be fun and exciting. He
learned that sometimes, new experiences can be wonderful, especially when shared with friends.
Suddenly, Barnaby Bear sniffed the air. “I smell…chocolate!” he exclaimed. Rosie Rabbit’s
ears perked up. “Chocolate? Where?” Just then, a little girl with tan skin, long black hair tied in
pigtails, and wearing a bright red coat, appeared, holding a tray of hot chocolate. “Hello!” she said with a warm smile. “I made some hot chocolate for everyone!”
The little girl with tan skin, long black hair tied in pigtails, and wearing a bright red coat, poured hot chocolate for Sammy, Rosie, and Barnaby. Sammy had never tasted anything so delicious! The warm, sweet drink chased away the last of the cold. He smiled at the little girl. “Thank you! This is the best
day ever!”
