撮影は最初「終着駅」のG・R・アルドが担当したが中途彼の死により「ロミオとジュリエット(1954)」のロバート・クラスカーが代った。
音楽には十九世紀の作曲家アントン・ブルックナーの第七交響曲ホ長調が使われている。
なお台詞協方者の一人に「欲望という名の電車」のテネシー・ウイリアムズがいる。
